Traditionally all braking system manufacturers (Brembo, AP Racing, Alcon, Wilwood) have a business unit dedicated to racing and high performance (lines are complementary and distribution channels often are the same). Special Products is already dealing with these divisions the racing and HP programs.
Many similarities between the 2 areas: fast reaction time, problem solving approach. Strong technical background required to be involved in these niche areas OE not interested in these small volumes. Tuning people are using racing as a technical reference.
The specification of the product will be fitted to the needs of the market in terms of pricing policy (fitted to a Tuning line) and technical requirements (noise, accessories, etc)
Suitable for target market: 120 part numbers covering most of the “car enthusiast” and high performance models within the European car market
Updated for latest vehicle models: E.g. New Mini, Peugeot 307, Fiat Stilo Abarth, Skoda Superb, Skoda Fabia with TRW brakes etc
Constantly updated: with even newer models (ie Ford Focus ST170) thanks to the synergy with Ferodo Premier range development Clean: removed from new range all “old” application = less stock required and maximum service level guaranteed
Scorching: this operation is made on most of the DS PF range. Scorching consists of “burning” the surface of the pad. That significantly reduced the bedding-in time when pads are fitted onto the vehicle
Thermal underlayer: Applied to the entire DS PF range Thin layer of specific mix pressed between the backplate and the friction material. improves mechanical resistance avoiding detachments. works as thermal barrier preventing heat transfer from the caliper to the brake fluid circuit.
Limited disc wear: many high performance materials are too aggressive and can cause excessive disc wear.
DS PF is formulated to minimise disc wear compared with similar competitors’ products… and most importantly - excellent performance with a µ even during fade of 0.55+
